Which to choose?
For first-time Orlando water park visitors: Volcano Bay. The TapuTapu virtual queueing alone is worth the choice. No more standing in 45-minute slide lines.
For Disney loyalists already on a Disney-only vacation: Either Disney water park. Blizzard Beach for thrill-seekers, Typhoon Lagoon for relaxation.
For thrill enthusiasts: Blizzard Beach (Summit Plummet) or Volcano Bay (Ko'okiri Body Plunge — also 200+ feet).
For young kids/family: Typhoon Lagoon or Volcano Bay. Both have great family slide selection.
The half-day question
Most families spend 6-8 hours at an Orlando water park. Not a full day. You can comfortably:
- Arrive at 11 AM
- Hit major slides 11 AM-2 PM
- Lunch
- Relaxation/lazy river 2-4 PM
- Final slides 4-5 PM
- Exit by 5:30 PM
This leaves the morning free for theme park rope drop and the evening for dinner.

- Doing Universal Premier hotel: Volcano Bay is included or heavily discounted. Go.
- Disney resort guest with Park Hopper Plus: One of the Disney water parks is included. Go.
- Off-property or budget-conscious: Volcano Bay has the better experience but costs more.
Most families do ONE water park during their Orlando trip — not all three. Don't try to hit all three in one trip.
